Full-Filled: A Mini Retreat For Women
I have seen it time and time again…my patient comes in for weight loss or because they have just been given a new medical diagnosis. But the more I hear their story, the more I hear that there is more to it. People are broken, in pain, and they don’t know where to turn. Their doctor really isn’t helping, the medicines have side effects, and hopelessness is creeping in as they continue to feel worse and worse.
Often, I hear another story too. One that goes way back. It goes back even as far as childhood. Patterns that were established around food, diets, body image, weight, restrictive eating, food addictions, etc. I hear about the family history and health problems that have plagued two or more generations. I like to put everything together in my head and it helps me to create a plan for each patient that is uniquely different from the rest.
But digging even further, I see that food carries so much weight and that illness (even excess weight which leads to illness) is spiritual. It is a wake up call if you listen. It is a red flag saying “STOP”. It is saying “pay attention, wake up”. This illness or the weight or the way you feel, they are all red flags, signs that it is time to start taking care of yourself. It is time to prioritize your health. To make changes to your life. To make healthy choices for yourself. To make a decision to treat yourself well so that you can have the energy and health to do the things you were created to do in this life. You may have to find your “why”, and this may be difficult to do. Because in the “why” you may have to finally believe that you are worthy of being taken care of…by you.
I have been wanting to have a women’s retreat for over a year now, to work within a small group to help explore the “why” and to work with other women in order to overcome these old beliefs, patterns and choices that are slowly robbing them of their health, vitality and life. Now it is time. Friday, January 24th, 2020 from 6-9pm will be the first retreat that I am hosting, titled “Full-Filled”. We will explore together how to break these old beliefs and create new ones that will feed our spirits. I would love it if you would join me and we can come together as a small group and learn from one another, heal, create healthy goals, overcome the past and face the future with a renewed perspective.
Email me at wendy@rinutritiontherapy.com if you are interested. The cost will be $35.00 to cover food, beverages and supplies. The retreat will only be available for 10 women as I want to make sure to keep the group small so that everyone feels comfortable sharing and exploring within the group.
I would like to add a thank you to my fellow dietitian, running partner and friend Corinne Goff, who inspired me this morning on our run, as she talked about the difference between motivation and conscious decision. It reminded me that we can’t wait to feel motivated. We have to make a conscious decision every day to take care of ourselves. And in order to make that decision, we must first answer the question “why?”.
